Etched stainless steel nameplates are a very permanent way of marking, labeling and identifying your product or equipment. The etching process is best used when a durable, long life, abrasion resistant, nameplate is needed. Etched stainless steel nameplates remain our specialty at Specialty Metal Products Co.
At Specialty Metal Products Co. the processes and equipment we use to etch our metal substrates are state of the art for our industry. We stock type 304 Stainless Steel material from .015" to .125" thick. We photosensitize our metal using a process developed for the computer chip industry and modified for our industry.
Specialty Metal Products Co. uses a spray etchant system where the metal sheets are placed on a conveyor system and pass through the etch chamber, where spray nozzles direct the etchant onto the material. Precise control is achieved by regulating the speed of the conveyor, composition of acid, intensity of spray, and temperature of the etchant. After the desired etched depth is achieved the plates exit the etch chamber through a neutralizing section and are then rinsed to produce a clean etched plate ready for the next stage of production.
